SAN FRANCISCO, April 25, 2008 -- Catholics for the Common Good is pleased to announce that His Excellency Archbishop George H. Niederauer of San Francisco has become an Episcopal Advisor to the movement.
"Archbishop Niederauer has always been encouraging of this lay Catholic movement," said Bill May, chairman of Catholics for the Common Good. "He has always been there to support our activities and offer valuable council. We are honored that our Archbishop has become an official advisor."
Archbishop Niederauer became Archbishop of San Francisco in December 2005, succeeding Cardinal William Levada who is now Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. He serves as Chairman of the USCCB Communications Committee. He has bachelor degrees in Philosophy and Sacred Theology from St. John's Seminary and Catholic University respectively. He has a master's degree in English Literature from Loyola University of Los Angeles and a PhD in English Literature from the University of Southern California.
