Please veto SB 906. It is an attempt to add new definitions or classes of marriage to the law and is another slap in the face of over 7 million voters who passed Proposition 8 in 2008. Under the law, there is only one institution of marriage that unites a man and a woman with each other and any children that result from the relationship.

SB 906 is a deception that pretends to offer religious protections regarding marriage but in fact offers none for faith groups or individuals who do not ascribe to “new” definitions of marriage.

SB 906 is unnecessary, probably unconstitutional, and will only lead to more costly litigation for the state because of the confusion it will cause.

Please stand up against the private interests pushing this bill and veto SB 906.
