The Honorable John Boehner
Speaker of the House
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Mr. Speaker,

As you know, the President of the United States has refused to defend the US Defense of Marriage Act, the law protecting marriage that unites a man and a woman with each other and any children born from their relationship. Protecting and promoting marriage between a man and a woman is not only critical to the common good of society, it also coincides with the common interest that every child has in the marriage of his or her mother and father. We are counting on you and the House of Representatives to take over the responsibility for defending this law in court.

Marriage between a man and a woman is the same reality that has been recognized by every culture, state, and religion since the beginning of time.  It was this reality that was recognized by an overwhelming bi-partisan majority when it pass Congress and was signed into law by President Clinton in 1996.

I am committed to defending marriage and will receive regular email updates on your efforts in this regard.  We are counting on you.
