Darfur: Sudanese President Charged with Genocide
THE HAGUE, Netherlands, July 30, 2008-- As part of the international effort to stop the genocide in Darfur, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court filed genocide charges against Sudan's president for a five-year campaign of violence in Darfur. It is the first time that a charge like this was made by the court against a residing head of state.

U.S. Sanctions on Sudan in Effort to Stop the Genocide in  Darfur

 
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 29, 2007- President George Bush has announced that new economic sanctions will be introduced to put pressure on the government in Khartoum in an effort to stop the genocide in Darfur (see "Sudan - Cauldron of Tragedy"). The sanctions target 31 Sudanese companies and 3 individuals complicit in the violence.
