Stunning Insights From Woman with Same-Sex Parents

by William B. May

SAN FRANCISCO, February 5, 2015 -- Katy Faust was raised in a family with parents who are a same-sex couple. She loves her parents and freely acknowledges they have been loving to her. Yet she opposes the redefinition of marriage. In her open letter to US Supreme Court Justice Kennedy, Katy tells us why.

familyIn Katy’s letter, notice how she describes the common human experience of desiring to know and be loved by her father. Notice her description of the right of the child to know and to be born into a family with her mother and father united in marriage. Notice how she sought acceptance by repeating the lies that adults wanted to hear.

These lies are the same lies that are being fed to your children and grandchildren through their schools, their peers, and through TV, film and music. As Father Michael Sweeney, OP often says, these lies are an insult to the intelligence of children. Everyone knows they have a mother and a father and someone is missing when they are not there.

It is critical that we take the focus off of the desires of same-sex couples and focus on the reality of marriage that can only be seen through the eyes of the child. It is the only institution that unites kids with their moms and dads. When it is redefined, there will no longer be such an institution provided for in law.

As Katy says, redefining marriage “moves us well beyond our ‘live and let live’ philosophy into the land where our society promotes a family structure where children will always suffer loss.”

Read Katy’s letter and reflect upon the redefinition of marriage through the eyes of a child. Then, please share it with friends and family by forwarding this email. Ask them to join you in the Marriage Reality Movement and help take back marriage for our children and family.
