Signs Bill Recognizing Out-of-State Same Sex "Marriages"
SACRAMENTO, October 12, 2009 – Late last night, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger further undermined marriage and the family in California by signing SB 54, a bill to recognize same-sex “marriages” in California that were performed in other states or countries. With the Governor’s signature, out-of-state same-sex “marriages” performed prior to the passage of Prop 8 on November 4, 2009, are now valid in California. Same-sex “marriages” performed after the passage of Prop 8 are now also recognized in California with “the same rights, protections, and benefits” as marriage with the exception of using the word “marriage”.

This action by the Governor is in blatant defiance of the will of the California voters that have twice mandated that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California” (Prop 8 - Section 7.5, California Constitution).
While the word “marriage” is protected in California, the institution is not. The continuing strategy of gay rights activists is to redefine marriage as only a committed relationship between adults for their own benefit. With this definition, there is no connection between marriage, and children and families. This is the definition that is being taught to our children in schools and shapes their view of marriage for their future. This conflicts with the reality of marriage that unites a child that results from the relationship of a man and a woman with his or her mother and father.
The signing of this new law contributes further to undermining the future of traditional marriage among our children. It is another victory for the power and influence of the gay rights movement over the majority of voters. It is just one more wake-up call pointing to the need for “Stand with Children”, the CCGI project to promote the integrity and centrality of marriage for children and society. It is a project to regain the offense on marriage and the family with a brand new strategy with positive messages. Many have already participated in marriage advocate trainings, retreats and workshops as part of a massive coordinated educational campaign to reclaim marriage and the family for our children and future generations starting in California.
