It is an outrageous attack on parental rights and responsibility that would let interest groups like Planned Parenthood go, without their parents’ knowledge, directly to children as young as 12 years old and talk them into being vaccinated with Gardasil, a vaccine for preventing 4 strains of the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus.

It undermines the entire notion of natural parenthood. It also undermines the rights of fathers and the internationally recognized right of every child to know and, as far as possible, be cared for by his or her biological mother and father.

It has passed the Senate and landed on the Governor's desk today. He must sign or veto it by July 19.

The USCCB has encouraged this celebration as a way of supporting their mission to promote the reality of marriage, their top priority for 2011. It comes just before Valentine's Day, a traditional time to celebrate love, friendship, and romance. In addition, Valentine's Day is becoming a day for politics and contention. The media will be full of reports of same-sex couples seeking marriage licenses across the country, advocating that marriage be redefined as merely a committed relationship for the benefit of adults. However, this is a reminder that events provide educational opportunities.

SAN FRANCISCO, November 24, 2010 -- On December 6, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco will hear oral arguments in a case that could be the Roe v. Wade of marriage. On December 6, attorneys representing the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund will ask a three judge panel to overturn last August's decision by Federal District Judge Vaughn Walker that solely recognizing marriage between a man and a woman as valid is irrational and only can be attributable to bigotry.
