SAN FRANCISCO, June 11, 2010 -- Yesterday, Federal District Judge Vaughn Walker announced that there would be no TV cameras permitted for the closing argument in the federal trail to overturn Prop 8. He was responding to requests by TV networks to televise closing arguments.
It has been the strategy of the plaintiffs to create as much publicity surrounding the trial as possible to gain national sympathy for their cause. Judge Walker had planned to have the entire trial televised and even have the proceedings posted on YouTube, but he was overruled by a panel of judges on the 9th Circuit Court.
